Upon arriving at the theater where he and Bugs Bunny perform, Daffy Duck is incensed to find the star’s name on the marquee in considerably larger letters. The unseen manager justifies this by citing the relative drawing power of the performers. Daffy feels humiliated as he discovers that his dressing room is a poorly disguised restroom, a backstage jab that sets the tone for a night built on one comedian’s dominance and the other’s fierce desire to outshine it.

That evening, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck take the stage for a show-stopping performance of Tea for Two. In the audience, a young Richard Nixon makes a memorable cameo, quietly witnessing the clash of ego and talent unfolding on the boards. The crowd’s cheer swells and retreats with each beat, while Daffy’s simmering frustration grows as Bugs draws booming applause and steady admiration. The tension between the two stars becomes the implicit engine of the night, pushing Daffy to search for a solo moment that might prove he can command the room on his own.

Frustrated by Bugs’ overwhelming reception, Daffy, convinced of his own superior talent, launches a series of solo acts designed to captivate the audience. He strips down to his cummerbund, bow tie, and gloves, kicking off with a high-energy dance to Jeepers Creepers that is meant to dazzle, yet fails to win the crowd. Next, he attempts a daring pigeon act, hoping to show off a skilled animal routine, but the pigeons escape his control and chaos erupts, forcing him to exit the stage in disgrace while a tomato sails toward him from the audience. The slapstick continues as Bugs then performs a classic sawing-in-half trick, and Daffy volunteers with the intent to reveal the illusion, only to be splittingly revealed himself—literally sawed in half.

Undeterred, Daffy sabotages Bugs’ signature xylophone act, rigging it to explode on a single, specific note. Bugs counters by deliberately playing the wrong note twice, turning the trap back on Daffy. In a swift, comic reversal, Daffy must play the correct note himself, and the result is a spectacular explosion that leaves him singed but undeterred—and more determined than ever to prove his genius.

In a final, audacious bid to outshine Bugs, Daffy takes the stage in a red devil costume for one last, perilous stunt. He consumes a dangerous mix—Gasoline, Nitroglycerin, Gunpowder, Uranium-238—along with a lit match, and then detonates in a dramatic, audience-pleasing explosion. The crowd erupts in applause once the smoke clears, Bugs remarks that they want more, and Daffy, now a ghostly presence, quips that he can only perform this stunt once more, leaving the audience laughing and the theater echoing with the afterglow of a performance that knows no equal in its willingness to go out with a bang.
