What Is Shahenshah About?

Framed by gangster J.K., Inspector Srivastav cannot prove his innocence and hangs himself, leaving his wife and son Vijay. Years later Vijay becomes a police inspector but, unlike his father, takes bribes. The city police hunt a mysterious vigilante called Shahenshah, who roams the night, judging and killing gangsters. The police fear him, while the poor and middle‑class see him as a protector, unaware he may be Vijay himself.

Mathur, a corrupt bank manager, secretly borrows ₹2.5 million and loans it to J.K. Verma, a ruthless crime baron who uses the money to stage a bank robbery and bail himself out. When DCP Anand Kumar Srivastava closes in on the scheme, J.K. pulls a clever trap: he enlists Julie, an exotic dancer, to frame Anand for corruption by making the robbery look like a government scam. Anand is arrested by the CBI and spends three months behind bars, and the stress of false charges drives him to take his own life after being released on bail. This tragedy leaves a deep scar on Anand’s son, Vijay Kumar Srivastava, Amitabh Bachchan, who grows up haunted by the line between duty and dishonor.
