Appraiser Rachel is sent to California when her client plans to replace a small town's cherished library with a resort. Reluctant to leave New York City, she finds herself drawn into the town's charm and the library’s importance to the community. There, she meets Jake, a writer researching local legends about Captain Black Bart's hidden treasure. With the librarian’s encouragement, Jake helps Rachel discover the library’s significance, while balancing his own responsibilities caring for his niece and nephew. Rachel must find a way to save the library before it’s lost forever.
