Saving Mes Aynak (2014): Cast

Afghan archaeologist Qadir Temori strives to preserve a significant 5,000-year-old archaeological site from destruction. A Chinese mining company plans to extract an estimated $100 billion in copper deposits located directly below the ruins of Mes Aynak. With only a small portion of the site explored, archaeologists hope future excavations will reveal crucial insights into Afghanistan's history and the spread of Buddhism. Temori and his team face a daunting challenge as they attempt to protect their cultural heritage against powerful forces, including the Chinese company, the Taliban, and complex political pressures.
