Gopalakrishna Panikkar Mohanlal is a short-tempered, domineering house owner who finds himself overwhelmed by debt accumulated during the wedding celebrations of his two sisters. He faces the grim prospect of bankruptcy and sees only one path to relief: force his tenants to vacate so the city house can be sold to repay what he owes. The tenants, however, have their own reasons for not leaving, creating a tense stalemate inside the building.

To turn the tide, he exploits a little-known clause in the lease and moves himself into the house, hoping this will pressure the occupants to pack up. He enlists the help of his friend, Sub-Inspector Rajendran [Sreenivasan], in his eviction plan. But Rajendran discovers a more personal motive for resisting eviction: he has fallen for Meera [Karthika], and his duty to protect her makes him refuse to drive her out.

Complications multiply when Meera’s elderly uncle Damodaran [Thilakan] tries to help eject Gopalakrishnan with the aid of a goon. A physical confrontation ensues, and Gopalakrishnan manages to fend off the threat and chase Damodaran away, heightening the clash between them.

Gopalakrishnan then crafts a new scheme: he hopes Rajendran will marry Meera to force her family’s hand and clear the tenants out. The plan hits a snag when Meera’s mother reveals a painful truth about her daughter’s mental health, a consequence of her father’s death. This revelation injects both sympathy and confusion into the situation, adding to the film’s comic and dramatic beats.

As the truth comes to light and emotions churn, Meera, realizing the extent of Gopalakrishnan’s predicament, vacates the house with some hesitation. Yet, in a final turn of sentiment, Gopalakrishnan calls her back and declares that the space they inhabit could become their shared home.
