Running Against the Wind 2019

Abdi, Ashenafi Nigusu, and Solomon, Mikias Wolde, are childhood friends who grow up under the wide skies of rural Ethiopia. Each dreams of a different path: Abdi trains with the hope of one day matching the legendary Olympic runner Haile Gebrassallie, while Solomon sets his sights on capturing the world through a lens as a photographer. They part ways to pursue these dreams, only to have their lives intersect again when they reach adulthood.

Solomon escapes to the big city, chasing fame behind a camera, but reality proves harsher than the dream—he ends up on the streets, scraping for food and moving among rough company. Ten years pass before Abdi relocates to the capital, where his dedication pays off; he continues training and even wins a national championship. A reunion between the brothers rekindles, with Abdi determined to pull his old friend back from danger, though the road ahead remains uncertain.
