A Cornish fishing village sits in economic decline, its harbor thick with memory and loss. Three decades earlier, the fishing vessel Rose of Nevada and its crew vanished into the sea, a tragedy that never truly faded and gradually hollowed out the town’s prosperity. The community clings to that ghost of the past, every rumor and wave bending back to the night the boat disappeared.

One day, the Rose of Nevada reappears in the harbour, startling former businessman Mike, who once owned the boat. For Nick, a husband and father who is barely keeping a roof over his head, the timing could not be better, and the ship’s return forces him to take to the sea again when his home seems to fail him. It is also good news for Liam, an itinerant worker who sleeps rough at the docks until Mike brings him aboard. The voyage is steered by Murgey, a grizzled rent-a-skipper whose weathered expertise guides the crew through the familiar waters.

Before they set out, Nick is confronted by his senile neighbor, Mrs. Richards. She and her husband mourn the loss of their son Luke, one of the original Rose crew, who killed himself under the weight of guilt over the boat’s fate. Realizing he is unmoored in time, Nick dashes to his now-empty home, only to find the Richards welcoming him as their son. He becomes distant from them, consumed by a desperate wish to reset time. Liam, meanwhile, fully embraces a new life, and the tale follows him as he settles into the community, romances Tina, and becomes a father to Jess. In this alternate timeline, a new net is woven for the boat after the old one is lost during a storm, and Liam’s arc completes the bridge between the past and the present.

A confrontation with Liam tests the fragile balance of the two timelines, escalating to a tense fistfight as identities blur and loyalties stretch thin. Nick begins to sleep in the future house he is fated to own, plagued by nightmares of the original crewmates and of Mrs. Richards. His attempts to contact Emily and his daughter fail, and he finds himself drawn to the cliff where Luke once ended his life. The weight of responsibility toward the Richards and toward the town almost drives him to despair, but it keeps him anchored to a present that feels increasingly unfamiliar.

When Nick returns to the Rose of Nevada for another day’s work, he experiences a hallucinatory farewell from Emily and his daughter at the dock.
