A Witch, Gillian Anderson, and her Cat, Rob Brydon, ride a single broom through a bright morning sky, joined by a curious Dragon, Timothy Spall. What begins as a cheerful flight quickly takes a chaotic turn when a spell misfires and erupts into a small explosion, jolting them all awake and sending the dragon into the mix with an eager, hungry gleam.
Midflight, the Witch accidentally drops her hat into a dense forest below. The group lands to search, hoping for a quick retrieval. A Dog, Martin Clunes, eventually returns the hat, and the Witch happily invites the canine to share the ride on the broom, much to the Cat’s growing irritation.
Their journey continues, and soon the Witch’s plait comes undone, sending a bow tumbling into a nearby field. A Green Bird, Sally Hawkins, ostracized by the others, brings the bow back and is allowed to ride along too, much to the Cat’s exasperation as the crowd on the broom swells.
The trio presses on until the Witch drops her wand into a patch of reeds. They land again to search, and a clever Frog, David Walliams, returns the wand and earns a chance to join the ride. With each new rider, the weight on the broom grows, and the sky fills with a rising wind.
As they soar over rugged mountains, the combined weight finally proves too much for the broom. It snaps in half, plunging the Cat and the Witch toward a murky bog while the Dragon, still pursuing, circles above and menacingly declares his plan to eat her—“witch and chips” for dinner. A tense chase follows, and the Witch faints as the dragon closes in.
From the bog, a monstrous figure surfaces, and the dragon halts in fear. The beast is revealed to be the group in disguise—the Dog, Bird, and Frog—whose plan is simple: the broom can only support two riders at a time. They prepare to leave the Witch and Cat behind, but the Witch quickly unleashes a new spell.
With a flash of magic, she crafts a fresh broom that can carry all five. The spell binds the unlikely crew together, and they rise again into the sky, united at last. In the end, the group discovers that cooperation—despite quirks and quarrels—turns a perilous flight into a joyous, shared adventure, and the broom becomes a symbol of their bond as they glide off into the clouds together.
