What Is Rolyo About?
The premise of Rolyo without spoilers.
Between harvests, Judith is sent by her father to catch birds for a Sunday market outside the church. On the way to the city she asks to see a film after selling the birds and receives a torotot—a trumpet made from rolled‑up film negatives. Set in Bikol, the story reflects the local custom of lining farmland edges with film strips to keep birds from newly‑sown rice.
