Lao Luo is a seasoned stuntman who shares his life with Red Hare, a remarkable horse born with a deformity he saved from euthanasia. Beneath his rugged exterior, his world is crumbling: eight years ago a serious injury left him broke, and he lost custody of his daughter, Xiao Bao, after a painful divorce while she was still young.

One night, a confrontation with debt collectors puts Red Hare’s future in jeopardy as the original company spirals toward bankruptcy and a forced sale of the horse. Lao reaches out to Bao, now a university student studying law, and she reluctantly brings in her boyfriend, Lu Naihua, to help navigate the mounting crisis. What begins as a desperate bid to protect the horse gradually evolves into a broader comeback for Lao, who finds work again in cinema alongside the animal he cherishes.

After the viral video of Lao’s clash with the debt collectors, he and Red Hare secure several film roles, with Bao stepping in as his agent ad litem. The pair lean on each other through tough moments, but Bao grows uneasy about the risks of Lao’s stunt-focused life. A humiliating moment—Lao embarrasses Bao in front of Naihua’s parents—drives a wrenching rift, and Bao离开s him.

A new blow arrives when Lao and Red Hare are seriously injured during a stunt, landing Lao in the hospital. While rummaging through Lao’s home for identification, Bao uncovers CCTV footage of a younger meeting with him, a memory that touches her and helps rebuild their bond. At the hospital, Bao and Lao reconnect, and he vows to step back from death-defying work.

That same night, Lao wakes to find debt collectors attempting to seize Red Hare; he settles the debts and even invites Da Mi, the lead debt-collector, to become one of his disciples. The following day, Lao’s apprentice Yuanjie invites him to a role in a film that pays homage to stunt work, which Lao accepts as a final job—much to Bao’s dismay. While filming, Lao insists on performing a dangerous stunt himself, but after remembering Bao’s cautions, he cannot complete it and quits, signaling a shift in priorities.

Despite a renewed reconciliation with Bao, Lao loses Red Hare in a legal dispute and is forced to sell the horse to a company. Bao and Naihua rally to save Red Hare by presenting the company’s CEO with footage of Lao’s deep commitment to his craft, hoping to restore the horse to its rightful partner. He Xin, the company’s CEO, ultimately returns Red Hare to Lao, explaining that the return was always the plan—the horse had already endured poor treatment under previous ownership. With Red Hare back in his care, Lao, Bao, and Naihua are finally reunited with the loyal horse, and the trio faces the future together, tempered by the lessons of struggle, sacrifice, and enduring loyalty.
