
In wartime Australia, a wounded American Marine, tired of combat, plans to go AWOL and flee. He becomes obsessed with local singer Kathy, who is married. After learning her husband has died, she falls for him. When police and the U.S. military hunt the deserter, he surrenders to shield Kathy from prosecution.
