Starring Biplab Chatterjee, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rachana Banerjee, and Abhishek Chatterjee, the film follows Deboshree and Sumit as they leave Kolkata for a village and move into a mansion tied to Sumit’s ancestry.

In the looming, old mansion, Deboshree’s curiosity pulls her into a restricted room where she learns the dark history of Chandramukhi, a dancer who was killed by a zamindar (landlord) who once lived there. The discovery triggers a series of eerie, almost supernatural events—unseen drafts, whispers in the corridors, and shadows that seem to glide on their own—casting a shadow over the couple and making the house feel haunted.

To explanations the occurrences, Sumit calls his psychologist friend Dr. Agni from the USA, convinced that there is no genuine ghost. He suspects that Malini, a woman who could not marry Sumit, is mentally ill and behind the disturbances. Dr. Agni’s arrival brings a wave of comic misunderstandings, as he misreads situations and even starts to grow fond of Malini, adding a light touch to the tense atmosphere.

Nevertheless, the truth behind the hauntings lies dormant no longer: Chandramukhi’s spirit is truly freed after 150 years the moment Deboshree unlocks the mysterious room, revealing that the danger in the mansion is real and not merely imagined.

The climax reveals a deeper twist: Deboshree suffers from multiple personality disorder, and her sympathy for Chandramukhi convinces her that she herself is Chandramukhi. She comes to see Sumit as the cruel zamindar behind Chandramukhi’s death and believes she must exact revenge. The eerie presence of Chandramukhi remains hidden from Dr. Agni, who remains unaware of the possession at work.

In a calculated plan, Dr. Agni steers Deboshree to “kill” a doll instead of Sumit, hoping to appease the spirit without harming the husband. Believing she has carried out her revenge, the spirit of Chandramukhi is momentarily satisfied and departs from Deboshree’s body. The finale finds a hypnotized Deboshree waking up to her ordinary self, while Dr. Agni ends the story by marrying Malini, closing the chapter on this fusion of psychological drama and supernatural mystery.
