Karthik returns to India after completing his studies in the United States, and his arrival sets off a web of family expectations and political maneuvering. His mother quietly decides that he should marry Indu, the daughter of the ambitious Dhanunjay who dreams of becoming a mayor. When Karthik’s father goes to Dhanunjay’s house to ask for the same arrangement, he is met with insult, and the plan hardens into a personal test: Karthik vows to teach Dhanunjay a lesson by marrying his daughter, setting off a chain of dramatic moves and counter-moves.
To win Indu and settle the score with Dhanunjay, Karthik enrolls in Indu’s college, hoping to persuade her to accept him. In this new setting, he crosses paths with Bhagyam, a student who quickly falls for him, mistaking him for Dhanunjay’s son rather than for Karthik himself. The initial spark between Karthik and Bhagyam complicates the situation, and soon a rift appears between Karthik and Indu as loyalties, miscommunications, and family pride tug at their growing bond.
As the drama unfolds, Karthik discovers that Indu is not Bhagyam’s rival for his heart but his cousin, a revelation that comes too late and leads to a breakup with Bhagyam under the influence of Indu and Upendra’s schemes. The rift drives Karthik to confront Dhanunjay and his ally Yeddula, who then seek help from a powerful gangster allied with Raghava and Obul Reddy. Indu, in a bid to escape and discover her own path, pretends to be in love with Karthik and with Shrinivas, all while pursuing a mystery of a lover she never actually met.
A crucial turn comes when Obul Reddy learns of Karthik’s photograph and Karthik’s possible connection to the man who helped Indu’s friend elope that very night—the very person Indu’s family suspects as a threat. Meanwhile, Karthik and Indu manage to slip away, and Karthik decides to assist her, even if it means going back on a promise he made to his mother. In a striking act of loyalty, Karthik rescues Peddi Reddy from Gangi Reddy’s men, and Indu steps in to pose as Karthik’s lover who fled with him, a cover that helps them stay one step ahead of a pursuing gangster.
They are eventually brought to Peddi Reddy’s home for safety, only to learn the shocking truth: Obul Reddy is Peddi Reddy’s son, and Indu’s friend—the very woman who eloped with her lover that night—was actually Gangi Reddy’s daughter. The mystery deepens as Karthik realizes the person who aided Gangi Reddy’s daughter that fateful night was himself, though he remains unaware that Indu is the person who orchestrated the plea he heard on the phone.
Indu, for her part, does not know that Karthik and Raghava were the same man who helped in that early crisis. Dhanunjay exploits this tangled web by presenting Nandu as the elusive helper, a tall tale designed to cast doubt and keep the two families divided. Obul Reddy and his brothers even drag in a liar named Raju to misrepresent events, while Bulli Reddy, who lies in a coma because of Karthik, waits to act once he recovers. Through clever stratagems and a few bold choices, Karthik repeatedly outsmarts his adversaries, earns trust, and forges a path toward reconciliation.
In a pivotal move, Karthik brings Gangi Reddy and Peddi Reddy back together, reshaping alliances and delaying or reordering the marriages that had stood at the center of the conflict. He even takes the blame for breaking the ancestral statue to save someone else, a sacrifice that strengthens Indu’s growing affection for him. Faced with the possibility of losing Indu, she finally declares that she cannot live without him, and she openly proposes marriage. Yet Karthik hesitates, bound by a warning from Dhanunjay that if he won Indu’s heart, the truth about his earlier actions would come to light and threaten the fragile bond between the two families.
After a final confrontation with Obul Reddy, Peddi Reddy, and Gangi Reddy, forgiveness is offered, and the families begin to heal. The long-standing tensions are resolved as Peddi Reddy’s daughter is wed in a ceremony that marks a fresh start for everyone. In a scene that unites both households, Karthik and Indu marry on the same day and at the same venue, surrounded by their proud families and a shared sense of renewal. In the end, the two families are united, their feuds laid to rest, and a future built on cooperation and affection forges ahead.
