On 4 January 2016, Rehaan Khanna and Shaina Khanna return to Romania, a place they once called home before their marriage. Shaina pushes her husband to take up a fresh role as a venture capitalist for the East European Finance Company, a move that promises opportunity but also unsettles Rehaan because he carries a secret that has never left him. The couple settles back into their old surroundings, hoping for a smooth start, yet the air around them soon grows uneasy.

From the very first day, Shaina experiences strange, unsettling phenomena as she unpacks, leaving both of them rattled. Rehaan, trying to stay logical, struggles to believe her accounts of the supernatural, even as the incidents intensify. What begins as subtle disturbances quickly evolves into something more threatening, casting a shadow over their rekindled life in a place filled with memories.

A month passes, and during a business trip, Rehaan receives a frantic call from Shaina. She is found alone and distressed in a rural telephone booth after visiting a clairvoyant. The mystery deepens as the story oscillates between what is haunting her and what hidden truths in their past might be driving these manifestations. The local priest makes an earnest but ultimately ineffective effort to exorcise the presence, as the spirit appears to know his past and uses it to push him away, showing a cruel intelligence behind the torment.

Into this tangled web steps Trilok Shastri, a blind Indian student studying psychometry in Romania. He encounters Aditya Shrivastava and, together, they become involved in trying to rescue Shaina from the malevolent entity. Aditya is marked by strange premonitions about the events unfolding in Shaina’s life, and he offers his help to confront the growing danger. Although Shaina is wary at first, a sequence of alarming events nudges her toward the possibility that the spirit’s power is connected to her husband’s past.

As the truth comes to light, Shaina discovers that Rehaan has been hiding a dark secret. Four years earlier, just before Shaina’s wedding, Aditya—impersonating someone from her past—had confronted Rehaan with a grave demand. He claimed insider information and used it to pressure Rehaan into breaking off his engagement so Aditya could pursue Shaina. Aditya’s attempts to coerce him escalate into violence, and Rehaan, in a fit of rage, strikes him—an act that results in Aditya’s death. Aditya’s spirit, scorned and vengeful, then returns to torment Shaina, using the haunting to pour out the hurt of betrayal and misdeeds.

The haunting reaches its climax as Aditya’s spirit takes possession of Shaina’s body. To save her, Trilok Shastri and Rehaan turn to a ritual known as the Gajendra moksh stotra, a mantra believed to banish the vengeful presence. The incantation is to be recited without a pause, a test of focus and unity between the couple and their ally. The spirit itself resists, attempting to disrupt the recitation, but perseverance and courage prevail. In the end, Rehaan’s determination helps complete the rite, and Aditya’s malevolent influence withdraws from Shaina.

The conclusion finds the couple at a lakeside, reflecting on the journey that brought them to this point. They note how the landscape around their home changed—from a season of cold, hard ice to a warmer, more intimate thaw. The melting ice serves as a quiet symbol of the renewed closeness and trust between Rehaan Khanna and Shaina Khanna, suggesting that their bond has emerged stronger from the darkness that once threatened to break it.
