In 1973 Susan Sontag traveled to post‑war Israel to film a documentary on the Arab‑Israeli conflict and the split in Jewish thought over Palestinian sovereignty. Shot during the final days of the Yom Kippur War, it weaves combat footage, street scenes, deserts, funerals, markets and the Western Wall. The soundtrack mixes radio clips, church bells, gunfire and opposing Israeli voices, forming a visual collage rather than a straight documentary.
