Saravanan, an orphan whose life begins under the shadow of his mother’s death and the weight of mental strain, is taken in by a childless couple. Their family story is built around an inter-caste marriage, a theme that guides every choice and misunderstanding that follows. At college, he crosses paths with Kavitha, the granddaughter of the caste-obsessed Sengodan, and a triangle quickly forms with Aavudayappan alias Armstrong, a US-returned suitor who is also smitten by Kavitha.

A mix-up—caused by an almost accidental photo swap conducted by the marriage broker—sets off a chain of mistaken intentions. The fathers of Saravanan and Aavudayappan share the same name, and both arrive at Kavitha’s house, each convinced they are forging an alliance with Sengodan’s family. The mistaken expectations spark a flurry of romance, schemes, and social tensions that push the lovers toward an engagement, even as Kavitha and Saravanan themselves believe they are destined to wed, while Aavudayappan watches from the wings, hopeful but uncertain.

What follows is a spirited farce of clever deceptions and polite pretenses, as the plot weaves through a web of coincidences and familial pressures. Sengodan grows increasingly wary of the Saravanan–Kavitha union, partly because of caste differences and partly because of the romantic entanglements that tug at the family’s honor. The tension culminates in a dramatic revelation: Saravanan is, in fact, Sengodan’s own grandson. A brief flashback ties Boopathy and Vasanthi’s previously fractured marriage—brought to light by illness—into the present conflict, reframing loyalties and long-buried secrets.

Amidst the melodrama and humor, the narrative ultimately re-centers on love and reconciliation. The story resolves with a hopeful, hopeful-tinged finale: Saravanan and Kavitha come together in marriage, their bond affirmed against social constraints and family scheming.
