The year is 1860. The United States is teetering toward civil war as gold fever fuels feverish dreams and the western frontier pushes outward into untamed lands. Against this turbulent backdrop, two rugged frontiersmen rise to define the era: Trevor Kingman, a rancher who lusts for power, and Jed Richardson, a modest man who hopes to carve decency into the wilds. Their friendship strains as Kingman’s pursuit of political fame and fortune drives a wedge between them. The two families are linked by a fragile thread of love between Rose of Sharon, Kingman’s daughter, and Jimmy D., Richardson’s son.
When a feud erupts, Bovey Kingman murders Jed Richardson; the rupture tests both families and their loyalties. Despite his feelings for Rose, Jimmy D. chooses to avenge his father’s death, setting out across the plains through wilderness and into areas touched by Native American-held lands. A chance twist of fate leads him to join the Pony Express mail riders, giving him speed and reach to pursue Bovey across dangerous, uncharted territory. Through grueling rides and hard-won grit, he presses on, riding into hostile country with a single, heavy purpose: to see justice done in his own terms. Eventually, in uncharted territory, Jimmy D. reaches his long-awaited revenge.
