What Is Play Off About?

Johan, a 35‑year‑old unemployed soccer fanatic, lives by his wit and charm. During the 1990 World Cup, lacking a TV, he hops between friends’ homes and bars to catch the matches. Owed money for a piano, he’s pursued by two hitmen and seeks help from down‑and‑out Kenneth, who recruits him to smuggle fifteen Iraqis from Frankfurt to Sweden, all while the decisive Sweden‑versus‑Costa Rica game unfolds.
