Arul Selvakumar is a wealthy businessman based out of Palladam, in the Tirupur district, who takes charge of the textile empire his mother, Bhuvaneshwari, built after his father’s early death. Avinashi, a money-minded relative, has long plotted to grab Arul’s properties. After returning from abroad following his graduation, Arul steps into the family business and resettles into a life of responsibility and secrecy.

Tragedy strikes when Bhuvaneshwari suffers a factory accident and slips into a coma, despite the best medical efforts. As the hospital room fills with worry and the family’s finances tighten, a wandering sage at the hospital hints at a radical way to save his mother: to live as a beggar for 48 days, with two strict conditions — never reveal his true identity, and never tell anyone about it. If he completes the challenge, his mother’s chances of recovery improve dramatically.

With few options left, Arul agrees and asks his friend, Rajesh, to oversee the business in his absence. He travels to Chennai, joins a group of beggars near a temple, and begins a precarious life of begging. It is there that he encounters Magizhini, a compassionate young woman whose generosity and integrity draw him in, and a quiet romance begins to blossom between them. Unbeknownst to Magizhini, Arul’s beggar life is a sacrifice made to save his mother, a truth she will gradually uncover.

Meanwhile, Avinashi senses Arul’s absence and moves to seize the family business, tightening the pressure around the already fragile operation. A wedding ceremony becomes a turning point when Magizhini discovers that Arul is the very same man she is falling for, albeit in disguise, and initially feels betrayed. Yet her admiration for his character remains strong, and she stays by his side, drawn to the depth of his selflessness. A crucial turn comes when Magizhini’s mother glimpses Arul’s photo on her laptop and recalls their past dealings through a matrimony site, clarifying the real identity behind the beggar’s face and rekindling their connection.

As Magizhini starts to understand the motive behind Arul’s unusual life, she sees how deeply he trusts and respects people, including those around him who help his mother in her time of need. She learns of Arul’s plan through conversations with Rajesh, and though the truth tests their bond, her feelings deepen rather than waver. The danger escalates when Arul discovers that a group of doctors running a mental health center has been using patients for unethical experiments, and the doctors send hired goons to eliminate him. He narrowly escapes.

On his final day as a beggar, Arul is spotted by Avinashi, who attacks him but ends up stabbing Magizhini by mistake, sending her to the hospital. Arul, still with 48 days to complete, is heartbroken by the incident but remains determined to save Magizhini and his mother. With the help of his beggar friends, he manages to return home after the full 48 days, accompanying Rajesh to visit his ailing mother. Though there is no immediate improvement in her condition, a moment of hope arrives when Arul feels his mother’s hands moving in a sign of life during a quiet moment of prayer.

Six months pass, and Bhuvaneshwari experiences a remarkable recovery. The family rejoices as Arul and Magizhini seal their vows and marry, uniting love and duty in a way that honors the sacrifices made along the way. In the closing scenes, a beggar asks for alms near a temple, and Arul, preoccupied with a phone call, initially misses the moment. His mother, however, quietly offers help to the beggar, gently reminding him—and the audience—that the life of a beggar carries a gravity all its own, and that even those who rise from such a life must strive to treat the less fortunate with compassion.
