The story follows Paul, who obtains a copy of an unreleased PlayStation game called Petscop, allegedly created by a fictional company named Garalina. Paul records his gameplay of the early levels for a mysterious, unseen companion. At first glance, the game appears to be a typical, unfinished puzzle title where the player character, known as the Guardian, captures strange creatures called “pets.”
However, a note included with the game box provides a code and instructions that allow Paul to enter the Newmaker Plane, a vast, dark, grassy expanse featuring a complex network of underground tunnels. As he explores, the game begins to reveal disturbing connections to real-world events, suggesting that Petscop was designed for someone who committed a terrible act.
