Peter, Vice Ganda dreams that someone is chasing him, and just before he fully wakes, he turns into a horse. A worker wakes him to tell him that something bad happened to Mama; his mother is hospitalized but recovers.
Peter Kasimsiman, adopted by the wealthy and kind-hearted Doña Biday [Eugene Domingo], finds refuge and privilege after enduring years of abuse from his biological father Mang Poldo [John Arcilla] due to his sexual orientation, and after his father packs all of his clothes and leaves home. Yet the comforts of wealth and status begin to twist his perspective, blunting his empathy and turning his hand toward arrogance.
After Doña Biday’s death, Peter’s demeanor grows harsher, as he mistreats his servants, employees, friends, and even the family’s prized horses. The turning point arrives when the goddess of horses, Diobayo, curses him: whenever Peter acts with anger or cruelty, he is forced to take the form of a horse. Stripped of his human skin, he must live the world as an animal, feeling the same mistreatment he once dispensed.
During one of his transformations, he is discovered by his former employee, Erickson [Luis Manzano], who, unaware of the curse, names the horse Petra and uses her to pull his calesa. Erickson treats Petra with care and respect, and Peter’s path toward change becomes inextricably tied to the kindness he is shown and the better deeds he performs.
As Peter contemplates his life, he begins to mend his ways, finding humility and seeking reconciliation with his repentant father, Mang Poldo. He realizes that the family’s estate can be saved from bankruptcy if he can win a crucial horse race, and he asks Diobayo to transform him back into a horse one final time, hoping victory will restore their legacy.
In a twist that shifts the romance of the tale, Erickson, swept up by the thrill of the moment, kisses Petra. To everyone’s astonishment, Petra transforms back into Peter, revealing his true identity before Erickson’s eyes—and he goes on to win the horse racing championship. The victory secures the family’s future, and, for once, happiness surrounds them all.
