After his mother’s death, young Peter Ibbetson flees Paris, leaving his childhood friend Mary behind, to live with a stern uncle in England. As an adult he becomes an architect and is hired by the Duke and Duchess of Towers. The Duchess reveals she is Mary, but the jealous Duke suspects an affair and forces Peter into a duel, endangering their second chance at love.

Gogo is a young boy of English extraction growing up in Paris, where he shares a friendly but often combative bond with Mimsey. After his mother dies, Gogo is taken to England by his uncle, who renames him after his mother’s maiden name, transforming Gogo into Peter Ibbetson.
