Sunil, a leading heart surgeon in India, lives in Trichy with Ganapathy, a devoted doctor who is loved by the whole family. When Sunitha arrives at the hospital with a child who has a heart problem, she is shocked to discover that the attending physician is Sunil, the man she once loved, and she lashes out in confusion and anger.

The movie goes into a flashback. It reveals Sunil’s brother, Bala, a powerful and wealthy thug who nonetheless tries to steer his younger sibling away from crime. Bala values education and insists Sunil pursues a medical path, a decision that sets Sunil on a divergent course from his brother’s world. In Chennai, Sunil and Sunitha are classmates at a medical college, and their bond deepens into love. Sunil shares his dream of marrying Sunitha, and Bala gives his blessing, accepting the union.

Meanwhile, Sunitha returns to her village for her sister’s child’s ear-piercing ceremony. The money-minded sister’s husband schemes to marry Sunitha off to a rich man in exchange for money, and Sunitha rejects the arrangement, affirming her love for Sunil. Tragically, Sunitha’s sister sacrifices herself to derail the arranged marriage, and Sunitha leaves with her sister’s child, feeling betrayed and alone.

Sunil tries to reach Sunitha and explain why he was late or unable to prevent the wedding, but Sunitha is not ready to listen. Facing pressure and the weight of the past, Sunil decides to head to Canada for a fresh start, accepting a job offer abroad. The truth slowly comes to light: Sunil could not intervene because Bala was killed on the day of Sunitha’s sister’s forced marriage, a deed carried out by the sister’s husband. With this revelation, Sunitha understands the full context and chooses to search for Sunil, hoping to mend the broken pieces of their relationship.

In the end, Sunitha finds Sunil as he prepares to embark on his new life abroad, and the two finally reunite, their love strengthened by the trials they endured. The story closes on a note of reconciliation, showing that forgiveness and perseverance can bridge years of pain and miscommunication.
