The tale unfolds in 411 AD, one year after Rome withdrew its legions from Britannia. Artos Aaron Burns is a young man raised to believe that God has a purpose for his life, a belief that will be tested by fire and fate. A devastating sequence of events—the Saxons burn his village, his father perishes, and his little sister Adria vanishes—shakes the foundation of his faith and pushes him toward a dangerous path he never anticipated.
