Two software engineers, Hari and Lakshmi, are sharp, quick to react, and bound by a restless sense of independence. They lean on their closest friends, Bhagawan and Janaki, as they navigate love, ego, and the dynamics of a modern relationship. In their world, a traditional, often controlling balance between spouses rears its head, with Satyabhama and Chalapati feeling the pressure of those expectations. When the elders arrange a formal match for Hari and Lakshmi—an event they call Pelli Choopulu—the two meet and, despite their initial friction, begin to like each other and dream of a calmer, more harmonious life together.

As they try to set boundaries and cultivate a comfortable life, their personal insecurities and stubborn habits begin to clash. The pair find themselves testing the limits of trust and intimacy, and the spark of genuine closeness flickers as they confront stubborn beliefs about power in marriage. Lakshmi’s old friend Prakash arrives, and she pretends to draw closer to him to spark a reaction from Hari. Fortuitously, Prakash’s wife, Astha, Hari’s former salsa tutor who harbors feelings for him, becomes part of the tension, deepening the couple’s ego clashes and sparking a series of impulsive missteps.

These misgivings push Hari and Lakshmi toward a fragile breaking point, threatening their relationship and even their friendship with Bhagawan and Janaki. Just as the situation seems irreparably strained, Hari and Lakshmi’s grandparents arrive from the village, unaware of the chaos that has unfolded. They invite the two to town to participate in a traditional heritage ritual, the Dampatya Vratam, which has the promise of restoring harmony and offering a new lens on their bond.

During the ritual, moments of warmth and renewed closeness begin to surface between the pair, hinting at a deeper connection beyond ego and argument. Meanwhile, Bhagawan and Janaki see the situation from a sobering angle: the real test of a marriage lies in the fidelity, loyalty, and mutual respect that partners show to one another, not in controlling behavior.
