What Is Overcome About?

Echoing the biblical tale of Saul, the film follows a high‑school bully whose cruelty ends after a life‑altering accident. Forced to confront his past, he seeks forgiveness from those he’s hurt and strives to become the person he always ought to have been. A later 2007 version replaces evangelical themes with Mormon ones and renames the cast while using the same actors.

Hannah is a young girl who faces many challenges and struggles with feelings of abandonment, low self-esteem, and a difficult past. The story begins in the gym of Brookshire Christian School, where the boys basketball team narrowly loses a tense championship game in the final seconds. Coach John Harrison (/actor/alex-kendrick) consoles his son, Ethan, who missed the game-winning shot, and assures him that next year’s team will be stronger since their best players will return, unlike their opponents who will have graduated.
