What Is Othello About?
The premise of Othello without spoilers.
Iago and a fellow soldier wait outside Desdemona’s father’s home, unaware she has fled with Othello; Iago tells his comrade—once hoping to marry Desdemona—that his loyalty serves his own ends. Venice sends Othello to defend Cyprus from the Turkish fleet, and Desdemona follows. In Cyprus, Iago schemes to convince Othello that Desdemona was unfaithful with Cassio, motivated by more than ambition.
