When the beloved biriyani cook dies unexpectedly, the free meal program stalls, leaving the village with a void it hasn’t faced in years. Thaara, who has recently become a widow, is known as a skilled cook, and she carries a remarkable backstory: she was blessed by a divine being when she was a small child and has a track record of winning cooking contests. In a moment that feels almost mythic, the narrative hints at celestial influence behind her talent. The heavenward perspective is voiced by the Superior Angel, Vinay Forrt, who explains to his junior that when Thaara was 19 months old, a baby who cried at that moment, the angel granted her the gift of cooking, which is why her food tastes like it comes from another realm.
