Hundra, Laurene Landon, belongs to a tribe of Amazons. She is the only member of her age who has never been with a man, and she makes it clear she intends to keep it that way. During a hunting expedition, her world is shattered when barbarians overrun her camp and slaughter many of her kin. As the sole survivor, Hundra seeks guidance from an old, wise woman, hoping for clarity, protection, or a path to safety. Instead, she is told that the Amazons’ survival might depend on a profound and unsettling change: she should become a mother.

Driven by this new duty, Hundra sets out to find a father for her child. The search is filled with danger and disappointment. The first candidate is crude in manners and turns out to be a sadist, signaling the grim reality of the world she must navigate. The journey then leads her into darker encounters, including a murderous robber baron who wants only to kill her, and an effeminate pimp who embodies a different kind of threat. A healer appears in her path as a possible partner, a man who could father her child, but he warns that a blunt approach won’t ignite a man’s mood. To fulfill the ancient expectation laid upon her, Hundra enlists the aid of other women, drawing on their support to help her meet the challenge and conceive.

Her determination finally bears fruit: Hundra becomes pregnant and gives birth to a daughter, Tracima, María Casal portraying the child. The arrival of her baby reshapes her sense of purpose and sets new priorities as she contemplates the fate of her people and her own legacy.

Yet peace is short-lived. An evil pagan priest kidnaps Hundra’s daughter, forcing her into a humiliating ritual where the priest’s followers seek to break her spirit. In the midst of this ordeal, she learns that her friends have managed to free the child. Fueled by renewed resolve, she fights back, regains her freedom, and returns to her homeland with a stronger sense of herself and her people’s future.

The story concludes with a reflective voiceover from a female narrator, suggesting that Hundra’s spirit endures in all women, a testament to resilience, sisterhood, and the enduring power of what it means to be a warrior-mother.
