After a bad investment and a Central American stock‑market crash wipe out the Trotters’ savings, Del tries to restore the family fortune by appearing on the quiz show “Gold Rush” hosted by Jonathan Ross. He does well but must phone Rodney for the jackpot answer; Rodney gives the wrong reply. The show later tells Del that Rodney’s answer was actually correct, so Del has won the prize. Mistaking the call for a prank by pub regular Mickey, Del asks Ross to donate the winnings to charity.
