John Lloyd Cruz as Popoy Gonzalez and Bea Alonzo as Basha Eugenio are college sweethearts who work at the same construction firm. Over five years, Popoy’s controlling nature begins to squeeze the life out of the relationship, leaving Basha feeling suffocated. She makes the difficult decision to end things and resign from the firm, prompting both to face the consequences of a breakup and to redefine their lives. Popoy lumbers forward with the support of friends, while Basha seeks new personal and professional ground, accepting a fresh opportunity offered by another architect, Derek Ramsay as Mark.
During this period, Popoy crosses paths with Maja Salvador as Trisha, a bar singer who brings warmth and complexity into his world. Her presence highlights how hard it is to move on when memories of Basha linger. Meanwhile, Basha begins to discover professional and creative freedom in her work under Mark, a relationship that gradually broadens her horizons.
One night, when Mark drives Basha to a dinner party after nearly three months away, Popoy misreads their dynamic and fears they are a couple, triggering renewed tension between the two former lovers. The situation complicates Popoy’s life further as he navigates his feelings in the wake of this misunderstanding.
Time passes, and Popoy briefly finds companionship with Trisha, while Basha continues to thrive in her career. The couple’s extended circle—especially Edith, Popoy’s aunt, and her fiancé Willie—returns from the United States with a plan to have Popoy and Basha help build their dream house, forcing the two to work closely again and rekindle old emotions even as they try to stay civil.
The proximity and shared responsibility push them to confront the pain from their breakup. When Basha delivers the final design plans for Edith and Willie’s house to Popoy’s apartment, she apologizes for breaking his heart, and the two end up spending the night together. At Mark’s wedding, Basha expresses regret over hurting Popoy, and Mark reassures her that breaking up was the right decision for personal growth. Popoy confesses that he still loves Basha, which leads to a painful realization that his relationship with Trisha cannot last.
Popoy turns to Krizzy and Kenneth, his close friends, who help him see that their breakup hurt them both and that Basha faced the challenges in their relationship with courage. Popoy acknowledges that he never stopped loving Basha, even as he wondered if love alone could sustain them. Their paths converge again at their old university, where Popoy reveals plans to take a two-year work contract in Qatar. He admits he should have given Basha what she needed, and she responds with understanding.
Two years pass, and Basha is shown working at a construction site when Popoy approaches her with an invitation for coffee and dinner. She accepts, signaling a renewed connection and the possibility of a new chapter for both of them, grounded in mutual respect and the growth they achieved apart from each other.
