In 1944, U.S. forces land on Saipan. Captain Oba Sakae refuses the expected mass suicide with his officers and avoids POW camps, leading his men and sympathetic locals into the mountains for guerrilla warfare. Even after Japan surrenders, he brands the news propaganda, continues attacks as “The Fox,” and eventually earns the respect of the American commander sent to capture him.
