Two years after the crash that claimed sixteen-year-old Nickie Reichert, the film follows three families as they carry the weight of grief and begin to seek ways to heal.

Catherine Reichert, [Carrie-Anne Moss], is unable to move on, clinging to Nickie’s belongings and pulling away from her husband Dale Reichert, [Andrew Airlie], and their son Brady Reichert, [Cameron Bright].

Dale Reichert, [Andrew Airlie], struggles with a marriage strained by loss, while their son Brady Reichert, [Cameron Bright], navigates a life shadowed by Nickie’s absence.

Walter Braugher, [Callum Keith Rennie], the college professor who was driving the other car, is marked by self-doubt and drinking, a turmoil that makes his relationship with his wife Abby Braugher, [Allison Hossack], more fragile.

Sherri Banks, [Lauren Lee Smith], one of his students, becomes a needed presence who offers a path toward connection amid the pain.

Dennis Braugher, [Hrothgar Mathews], Walter’s autistic brother, remains confined to his apartment since the night of the crash, fearful of the world outside.

Jordie, [Kevin Zegers], Nickie’s friend and the driver of the stolen car, has just been released from Youth Detention Centre and bears a heavy burden of guilt.

Carl, [Michael Riley], a psychotherapist and Jordie’s father, has not forgiven his son, and his relationship with Elise, [Camille Sullivan], his second wife and Jordie’s stepmother, is strained as they both long to feel loved again.

Together, these threads pull the families toward meaningful steps to address their emotions in constructive ways.
