Spoilers ahead
Cmdr. Simms, William Jones, of the Sega Control Attack Team (S.C.A.T.) opens Night Trap with a formal briefing that sets the stakes for a tense night of surveillance and danger. He explains that five teenage girls were last seen at the Martin winery estate and have since vanished, prompting a classified investigation that police could not complete. The backstory centers on the Martin family—Victor Martin, his wife Sheila, their children Jeff and Sarah, and cousin Tony—who hosted the girls that evening. The briefing emphasizes that the Martins claimed the visitors left safely and refused any broad police search, a detail that raises questions about what really happened on the estate.
