Vinay Panikkar Vijay Babu is the head of an advertising agency based in Mumbai. He is married to Nalini Ann Augustine and they have a son. When he is transferred to Kochi to take over the local branch, he encounters a brilliant but volatile creative director, Neena Deepti Sati, who works on her own terms and moves through the office with a fierce independence that unsettles her colleagues. Her unconventional approach and the friction it creates at work start to spill over into Vinay’s home life, and Nalini’s stress at home begins to reveal itself in small but telling ways.
Slowly, Neena falls in love with Vinay, and at a dance party she asks him for a kiss. Vinay, startled, shrugs her off and goes home. Disturbed, Neena calls him, and Vinay, speaking on speaker in front of Nalini, makes it clear that he is committed to his wife and not seeking an extramarital relationship. This moment destabilizes Neena, who soon disappears for five days and then attempts to harm herself. Hospital staff respond to her contacts and mistakenly identify Vinay as her husband, urging that Neena be placed in rehab. The doctor recommends a well‑known rehab center, noting that Neena is a young alcoholic who can recover with the right support, but the facility requires family involvement or a couple’s agreement.
Vinay tries to reach Neena’s estranged family, but her father is ill and cannot travel. After confiding in Nalini and feeling guilty, Vinay decides to accompany Neena to rehab by posing as her husband. During treatment, Vinay’s feelings begin to blur the line between professional duty and personal longing. Neena, increasingly wary, distances herself and tells Vinay she is in touch with a colleague named Karthik. Counselor Pearl explains to Vinay that Neena’s behavior stems largely from the intoxication and deeper emotional wounds, making it clear that Vinay and Neena are not truly husband and wife. Nalini overhears part of the conversation and comes to understand that Vinay’s feelings for Neena have evolved, which deepens her own resolve and the sense that his loyalty is shifting.
When the treatment ends and they return to Cochin, Neena asks Vinay to drop her off and says Karthik will come later to take her home. She resigns from her job, seeking a break and a change in atmosphere. Neena’s parents arrive to pick her up and praise her decision as a form of love that allows Vinay to stay with his own family. Neena deletes Vinay’s photos and contact information from her phone, signaling a painful distance between them. The emotional toll drives Vinay to drink again, and he returns home to Nalini, apologizing and seeking reassurance. Nalini recalls Pearl’s insight that in Vinay’s life there would be one woman—Nalini—yet the narrative closes with a quiet, poignant image: Neena in Russia, remembering Vinay and clutching his jacket as a symbol of what was and what was ultimately left behind.
