In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a routine investigation of a suspicious van spirals into a nightmare as the officer is suddenly attacked by zombies, turning a quiet day into a citywide scramble for safety.
Across the country at NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach, SEAL Team Six trains its newest member, Petty Officer AJ Prescott, Damon Lipari. When AJ returns home, he finds his wife Emily Jackie Becker pregnant with their first child, a moment that sharpens the stakes as a global crisis begins to take shape.
Back in Baton Rouge, reporters Amanda Stephanie Honoré and Dave Massimo Dobrović cover a press conference led by Vice President Bentley Rick Fox. As the event ends, a mob of zombies erupts, driving the VP to retreat into the Capitol and plunging civilians into confusion and fear.
SEALs are mobilized when a distress call goes silent. Lieutenant Pete Cunningham Ed Quinn leads the team as they HALO into the city, where they locate Bentley and a group of survivors including Amanda and Dave. CIA Agent Stacy Thomas Molly Hagan warns that the outbreak is a biological attack and that an on-site asset could reverse it, but extraction will be dangerous.
Margaret Lolo Jones, Bentley’s aide, hides the fact she has been bitten to avoid being left behind. Just before a helicopter arrives, the rescue is interrupted when Chief Petty Officer Travis Kevin Kent is killed, escalating the toll of the crisis.
As the helicopter lifts off, Margaret turns into a zombie and the craft crashes. The surviving SEALs and civilians push toward the objective, aided by Larry Charlie Talbert. Amid the chaos, AJ is bitten, but he passes his sidearm to Amanda and fights to stay alive as they press on toward the extraction route. Carl Chad Lail stays close and briefly helps by reaching toward AJ and Amanda before being overwhelmed, a moment that underscores the personal stakes for the team.
Dave is killed during the escape, and Rebecca Sara Benjamin works to obtain a zombie sample that could help forge a vaccine. Commander Sheer Michael Dudikoff orders a blockade of exits and bridges to keep the contagion contained within the city.
The group makes it to the extraction point, where Carl Chad Lail remains behind to stall the pursuing zombies and buy time for AJ, Amanda, and the others to reach safety. As they depart, AJ reveals that he is infected, but Pete Cunningham urges him to board the chopper, refusing to abandon him. The chopper clears the city as missiles strike Baton Rouge.
Back at the Capitol, Stacy Thomas reveals that AJ and the other SEALs are immune to the infection due to vaccines that alter their molecular structure. This discovery hints at a potential way to save others, even as the outbreak continues to threaten the nation.
AJ finally returns home to Emily, and with the team’s immunity in hand, the story culminates in a quiet, hopeful moment. He and Emily decide on a name for their son, Carl Chad Lail, honoring the sacrifices that helped them survive and offering a name for the next generation.
