What Is Natan About?
The premise of Natan without spoilers.
This documentary explores the life of Bernard Natan, a Romanian immigrant who became a significant figure in early French cinema after arriving in Paris in 1905. He rose to control the Pathe film group in the late 1920s, producing ambitious films like Les Misérables. Despite his contributions, Natan’s role in film history has been largely erased, partly due to persistent rumors and prejudice surrounding his ethnicity and alleged involvement in early adult entertainment. The film examines how these factors contributed to his fading from prominence and the impact on his legacy.
