During the Vietnam War, an American patrol is pinned down in a fierce firefight with a formidable force of NVA regulars. As the battle rages on, the survivors press their way into a cave that hides a cache of gold, a prize set within the territory of a group of aborigines who defend their land with deadly tenacity. The aborigines prove capable of taking out several NVA fighters—and even some Americans—but they manage to capture most of the patrol, sparing only their leader, Lt. Vance Calhoun, played by Brad Johnson. Calhoun’s resolve hardens as he confronts the impossible: his men are prisoners, and time is running out.

He pleads with his commanding general to permit a rescue, but the General Donipha—portrayed by Ken Metcalfe—explains there are no resources available and that the area will be bombed by B-52s within a few days, effectively sealing any chance of retrieval. Yet Calhoun refuses to surrender his men to fate. In a daring gambit, he negotiates a controversial arrangement: four Hells Angels bikers who are visiting Vietnam and have had their motorcycles confiscated will be released to operate under his command, in exchange for a share of the gold, with the prisoners left out of the deal.

With the odds stacked against them, Calhoun’s improvised squad presses forward, fighting through NVA-held terrain with the help of friendly South Vietnamese forces. Their journey leads them deeper into danger as they move toward the fates of their captured brothers. Along the way, they encounter the aborigines’ enigmatic leader, Chard—the German figure who has remained in Indochina since his French Foreign Legion days. Vernon Wells embodies Chard, a man of iron will who now wields influence over the tribe. His plans cast a shadow over the rescue mission: he intends to sell his American prisoners to the NVA, adding a perilous layer of tension to Calhoun’s mission and threatening to undermine any hope of a safe evacuation.

As the rescue effort unfolds, loyalties are tested, and the line between ally and adversary blurs. Calhoun must navigate treachery and moral compromise alike, balancing the pursuit of his men with the hard realities of a war-torn landscape where gold, power, and survival collide. The story threads together combat, strategy, and human drama, painting a portrait of a high-stakes mission where every decision could determine life or death for those trapped in the jungle’s brutal geography.
