In the exam hall, a paper filled with out-of-syllabus questions, combined with teasing from a friend and a strict examiner, triggers a shock of stress that leaves Gandhi laughing uncontrollably. This moment marks the onset of a condition later identified as pseudobulbar affect, a challenge that shadows him in various places and strains his relationship, eventually leading Ankitha to break up with him.

Seeking help, Gandhi turns to a psychiatrist, Veerabadhran, [Pandiarajan], who guides him toward understanding his condition while acknowledging the limits of what he can share, especially since a sacred talisman he wears promises to “solve” his problems. Across town, Gandhi’s close friend Dilli Babu is heartbroken because his girlfriend Priya is marrying someone else and contemplates extreme steps, pushing Gandhi and his friends to step in and offer support. At the same time, a different Dilli Babu—an infamous gangster—holds a secret hard drive entrusted to Minister Thangadurai [G. Marimuthu], a key piece in a web of power and crime. Sakaradas [Ravi Mariya], Dilli Babu’s arch-nemesis, dispatches his henchmen Nelson [Shah Ra] and Manikkam [Munishkanth] to carry out a dangerous plan on Dilli Babu’s birthday: kill him and steal the drive.

A twist of fate throws the two missions into collision when both groups converge at the same pickup point, each suspecting the other of treachery. Gandhi and his friends end up in the car meant for the gangster’s party, while Nelson and Manikkam wind up at the police station with weapons drawing suspicion. Dilli Babu, convinced that Gandhi’s crew is working for Sakaradas, unleashes his fury on the younger man. Yet Gandhi’s uncontrollable laughter disarms the confrontation in a way Dilli Babu cannot anticipate, and the police intervene to arrest the gangster, who vows to teach Gandhi a lesson.

In an ironic twist of fortune, Sakaradas’s high-handed support helps restore Gandhi’s standing and even nudges Ankitha back into the picture, with her parents eventually agreeing to their union. The pursuit to locate the missing Dilli Babu culminates at the venue of his girlfriend’s wedding, where the gangster arrives with his men intending to silence Gandhi and Sakaradas once and for all. A sequence of chaotic, comic, and tense moments follows, culminating in Gandhi saving his friend from disaster and Dilli Babu recognizing that Gandhi’s courage doesn’t come from fearlessness but from living with a disorder that makes him laugh at the most inopportune moments. The hard drive is recovered and handed to Gandhi, with the hope that it may catalyze broader social change.

Back in the present, Gandhi explains to the interviewer that he learned to cope by wearing a metaphorical mask and pretending to be fine amidst adversity—an observation that resonates as a reflection on how many people navigate daily life. The film closes on a note that blends humor, resilience, and a quiet call to look beyond surface appearances to understand the struggles that shape ordinary lives.
