The film recounts the factual story of 300 predominantly Black sailors killed on July 17, 1944 when a munitions ship exploded in San Francisco. Three weeks later, fifty survivors were court‑martialed for refusing another loading order, protesting the Navy’s neglect of their safety. Their sacrifice and demand for respect drive the narrative.

The movie opens with a tense, violent disruption as a van is slammed into a parking area by a far larger vehicle, instantly signaling the ruthless world our protagonist moves through. The story then centers on Cole Reed, a loyal bodyguard who also shares a close bond with his employer, billionaire Tibu Campallo, who heads the company KMG. As Tibu celebrates a milestone—his son Kameron joining the business after orchestrating a cargo ship called Artemis to depart from Bangkok—the film quickly pivots from festive to fatal when an ambush erupts. Cole fights off mercenaries and dirty cops to shield his boss, but the onslaught leaves Tibu fatally wounded, thrusting Cole into a desperate fugitive existence.
