Nelu, András Hatházi, a man in his forties, works as a security guard in a local supermarket in the Romanian border town of Salonta. His life moves in a slow, quiet rhythm: fishing at dawn, a day spent at work, and evenings at home with his wife on the outskirts of town. Their main concern is a leaking, aging roof on their farmhouse, a visible sign of their limited resources and the everyday strain of making ends meet.

One morning, while fishing, Nelu meets a Turkish man Behran trying to evade capture by the border guards. Desperate for help, the stranger seeks shelter, and Nelu brings him back to the farmhouse, offering him dry clothes, food, and a place to stay, even though he isn’t sure how to get him safely across the border. When his wife Florica, Elvira Rimbu, discovers the foreigner hidden in the cellar, she urges that he be turned away, yet Nelu chooses not to report him to the authorities. Instead, he puts the stranger to work on the rundown farm, hoping to keep him hidden and to avoid drawing attention to their fragile life.

The Turkish man presses harder, demanding that Nelu take all his money and help him reach Germany. The tension between compassion and law, between practicality and principle, thickens as Nelu weighs the costs of assisting a stranger against the consequences of letting him stay. In the end, he yields to the pressure, taking the money and promising to help him cross the border the next day, a commitment underscored by the one German word the man knows: >morgen<.
