Moomins and the Comet Chase 2010

One morning, Moomintroll wakes to find grey dust spreading over the entire Moominvalley. He rushes to ask Nuuskamuikkunen, Taneli Mäkelä, what could be happening, and is told that such quiet moments often signal an awful fate coming from the sky. The warning sets the tone for a tale that blends whimsy with a looming threat, inviting friendship and courage to guide the way.

With the help of Muumipappa, Tapani Perttu the group—Moomintroll, Sniff, and Snufkin—build a raft and set out on a bold journey toward the Lonely Mountains’ observatory, hoping the wise professors there can shed light on the strange dust.

At the observatory, the professors reveal the approaching danger: a comet will reach the Earth in four days, four hours, four minutes and 44 seconds. This startling countdown becomes the catalyst for the friends’ next move and tests their resolve as a team.

On the return journey, they decide to press on toward home as quickly as possible. Along the way, they encounter more dangerous creatures and obstacles, and they are joined by old and new friends, including Snork Maiden and her brother Snork, who step into the adventure to help carry the burden and share the hope.

When they reach the seashore, they find the sea has completely dried up, forcing them to traverse a now exposed seabed. The treacherous terrain adds to the excitement and danger, yet the group presses onward, driven by the need to warn everyone and safeguard their home.

Finally, they make it back to the Moominhouse only to face another shocking detail: the comet is scheduled to land right in their own garden that very night. The central question remains whether they can rally everyone to safety in time, and whether their valley can endure the impact and preserve its warm, stubborn spirit.
