Sevagapandian, Radha Ravi, a seasoned politician, leads a life centered on his only daughter Vinodhini and his nephew Anbuchelvan. Anbuchelvan, Vimal, attends Sevagapandian’s political meetings and treats Vinodhini as his own sister. Vinodhini falls in love with Satish, Vishnu Kumar, and asks Anbu to persuade her father. Anbu bides his time, hoping to reveal Vinodhini’s feelings to Sevagapandian at the right moment. In the meantime, Anbu finds himself drawn to Sailaja, Anjali, who happens to be Satish’s sister, and their growing affection becomes another important thread in the story.

Sevagapandian is firmly against love marriages and begins looking for a suitable alliance for Vinodhini. She pleads for a few years to gain employment before marriage, but her father refuses. Vinodhini then goes missing, and everyone assumes she has eloped with Satish. Sevagapandian and his henchmen storm Satish’s home, leaving Satish’s family insulted and distressed. It later comes to light that Vinodhini had travelled to Coimbatore for a job interview, not eloped. Anbu, witnessing his father’s harsh reaction, feels remorse and apologizes to Sailaja.

Sevagapandian accelerates Vinodhini’s marriage plans, and she resolves to marry Satish at a register office. Anbu, moved by Vinodhini’s predicament, decides to help her. Vinodhini eventually marries Satish. Enraged by the turn of events, Sevagapandian orders Anbu to seek revenge by marrying Sailaja, unaware that Anbu and Sailaja are already in love. Seizing the moment, Anbu marries Sailaja, completing a web of loyalties, love, and family obligations that underpins the narrative.
