Trapped in a stifling marriage, he turns to extramarital affairs and other outside pursuits for relief. The 2005 ITV drama, produced by Granada Television, adapts Anthony Berkeley Cox’s 1931 novel Malice Aforethought, following an earlier BBC version from 1979. Falling for this doctor proves to be a dangerous proposition.
