Love Action Drama delivers a lightweight romantic comedy that lands unevenly across its components. While the film’s colorful visuals and occasional comic beats entertain, the narrative suffers from a thin script, repetitive jokes, and underdeveloped characters. Positive remarks focus on the chemistry of the leads and the energetic first half, but critics note a stagnant second half and an overreliance on drinking tropes. Consequently, the movie offers brief amusement but limited lasting appeal.
The Movie Echo Score Breakdown for Love Action Drama
Art & Craft
In terms of direction, the film exhibits a vibrant, glossy presentation that some reviewers found energetic and colorful. However, critics point out a safe, conventional approach that fails to innovate, with pacing issues and uneven editing in the latter half. The cinematography receives modest praise, yet the overall craft is viewed as competent but lacking distinction.
Character & Emotion
When assessing character and emotion, the leads receive mixed feedback. Nivin and Aju’s comic chemistry is praised for providing moments of amusement, yet both protagonists are described as shallow, with limited growth and unsympathetic traits. Nayantara’s performance is noted as underutilized, and the romantic dynamic is criticized for lacking depth, resulting in a generally weak emotional impact.
Story & Flow
Regarding story and flow, reviewers overwhelmingly label the script as thin and conventional. The plot follows a predictable boy‑meets‑girl template, with repetitive jokes and an overemphasis on drinking scenes that add little narrative weight. While the first half is deemed fresh by some, the second half drags, offering little originality or sustained engagement.
Sensory Experience
In sensory experience, the film’s soundtrack receives mixed remarks; the opening song is praised, but continuous background music is described as jarring. Visuals are noted for a slick, colourful aesthetic that enhances the light‑hearted tone. Sound design and editing are considered adequate, though the overall sensory cohesion is hindered by repetitive auditory elements.
Rewatch Factor
The movie provides occasional laughs and a colorful presentation that may entertain viewers seeking a light‑hearted outing, especially fans of the lead actors. However, the weak storyline, repetitive jokes, and overused drinking motifs limit its replay value. While the first half offers some charm, the lack of depth and originality reduces the incentive for multiple viewings, resulting in a moderate rewatch factor.

Dinesh, Nivin Pauly, a wealthy bachelor who is overconfident of himself, tries to impress Shobha with the help of his best friend Sagar Aju Varghese and hopes to marry her someday. The movie unfolds through a series of flashbacks, starting with Dinesh recalling his first meeting with Shobha and recounting their evolving relationship. He comes from an extremely rich background and, true to his nature, doesn’t work much; he spends his time partying and drinking with his friends while dealing with the news that his cousin Swathi Durga Krishna is getting married.
Dinesh and Swathi had supposedly been involved, but Swathi learns from a Google search that they are blood relatives, which casts doubt on their romance and threatens the wedding. Dinesh is furious and determined to derail the wedding at any cost. Shobha, one of Swathi’s friends, seems to like Dinesh and finds his antics amusing, even when he injures the bridegroom by accident during a drunken stunt. Later, Dinesh accompanies Shobha’s friends to the hospital for an overnight stay, where she counsels him to move on and tells him that another girl will surely fall for him.
Shobha is hardworking and runs her own business, which contrasts with Dinesh’s carefree lifestyle. To win her back, he focuses on her friends first, and gradually wins their trust. Shobha agrees to a relationship with the condition that he quit smoking and drinking. He promises, but slips up again the same night, leading to a confrontation with Shobha and Priya. Afterward, Dinesh tries to prove his commitment by taking part in a religious vow at Sabarimala for 41 days, and the couple reconciles. Yet his possessiveness grows as Shobha remains busy with work and avoids discussing settling down, cohabitation, and marriage.
A hint from a random man suggests that Shobha dates around, which enrages Dinesh. He declares the chain and bracelet (the religious vow) inappropriate for him and indulges in vodka and cigarettes; Sagar calls Shobha and Priya, and she lashes out, hitting Dinesh, who walks away in anger. Days later, Shobha calls and proposes marriage, and he agrees, despite lingering tensions. Shobha’s father [Sreenivasan] remains wary after discovering Dinesh’s drinking, but doesn’t outright reject the match because Shobha believes he will take care of her. Two days before the wedding, a stranger shows a few photographs of Dinesh with Shobha, accusing Shobha of cheating and implying Dinesh is a better match due to wealth. This is where the flashbacks end, as Dinesh wonders what to do next.
Dinesh later learns from a selfie posted drunkenly by the same stranger that he and a group of men—including Priya’s ex-husband—conspired to ruin Dinesh and Shobha’s relationship. Priya’s ex-husband had been unhappy about Priya’s closeness to Shobha, which had strained his own marriage. Shobha and Priya are taken to the police station after Dinesh beats the three men, and Dinesh begs for forgiveness, declaring his love and admitting his earlier mistakes. Shobha remains wary about trust, but ultimately reiterates the need for faith in the relationship and the absence of drinking and smoking, which Dinesh promises to maintain. She even asks his father to intervene, and Shobha’s father pushes for reconciliation, while Dinesh seeks forgiveness from his own family, including his mother Mallika Sukumaran.
Cut to Present: Dinesh takes an alcoholic drink and smokes a cigarette with Sagar before entering the marriage hall to marry Shobha. The story winds through these memories and revelations, painting a portrait of a couple whose love is tested by vanity, insecurity, manipulation, and the blurred lines between wealth and commitment.
