Disguised as Count de Noirmoutier, the Grand Vampire learns that ballerina Marfa Koutiloff—engaged to Philippe—is scheduled to perform a ballet called The Vampires. Fearing she will reveal the gang’s activities and wanting to deter Philippe, he gives Marfa a poisoned ring before her performance, hoping the cursed jewelry will silence her.
