A travelling theatre troupe stages Offenbach’s operetta “The Beautiful Helene”. During the performance an audience officer notices an uncanny likeness between the lead, Leonard Pettersson, and King Charles XV. The cast is soon dressed as the monarch and his royal entourage and invited to Herrsunda Castle, where the officer hopes the regal masquerade will win the favour of his fiancée.
