Appalaraju is a devoted film lover who spends his days at Rambha Theatre in Amalapuram, watching movie after movie and wondering why directors keep turning out films that fail to leave a lasting impression. His lifeblood is the dream of directing a film that outshines the best in the industry, a project he believes will redefine his career. To chase that dream, he heads to Hyderabad, stays at a friend’s house, and carries a script titled Nayaki in his bag. At an audio release function, he is introduced to Rakhee and his creative head Pushpanand, who read the script and propose several changes. But Appalaraju refuses to alter a single word, convinced that his original vision must stand intact. Rakhee suggests that securing finance hinges on luring the industry’s top heroine, so the next move is to meet Kanishka.
The meeting with the actress goes in his favor; she agrees to star in Nayaki after hearing the story. With that in place, [Rakhee], [Pushpanand], and Appalaraju turn to Database to finance the project. The financier signals that a big-name hero is crucial to pull in money, so the team pushes to assemble a high-profile cast. Despite Kanishka’s support, a dispute arises and the supposed lead, Babu Garu, quits the project, causing Database to hesitate. Undeterred, Rakhee and Appalaraju seek a different path and approach Srisailam Anna, a notorious rowdy sheeter, who agrees to back the film but only if the film uses exclusively lyrics penned by him. The promise of a mass-appeal collaboration brings a twist: Kanishka convinces another top hero, KT to pair with her.
With singing and music in mind, Ringtone Rahman Sharma is brought in to score tunes for the lyrics. To boost the film’s mass appeal, the producers decide to include an item number, a choice Appalaraju reluctantly accepts after weighing the options. The shoot wraps, and the team plans a media blitz to secure favorable reviews ahead of release. Yet trouble resurfaces as Babu Garu leverages his influence to turn media sentiment against the film. The distributors then enter the picture as Onti Kannu Gavarraju, played by Onti Kannu Gavarraju, demands promotional changes that emphasize more exposure for the leads. Appalaraju refuses to bend, but Gavarraju’s stance shifts after a meeting with Babu Garu, and he agrees to handle distribution across the state.
However, Gavarraju has a change of heart and backs out just as the release nears. The duo returns to the drawing board and approach Data Base again for distribution, and this time the deal goes through. The release is scheduled to coincide with Babu Garu’s film Pranam Teesta during Sankranti, but fierce competition and last-minute maneuvers threaten that plan. In an additional twist, director Y Venkat proposes a drastic attempt to burn the film’s negatives to sabotage piracy. But a mix-up causes them to burn the negatives of a different film, yet Nayaki still hits the screens smoothly and becomes a big hit, earning awards across all departments.
Appalaraju, who initially feels his original, more tragic and touching vision was compromised, finds himself dancing with the crew in celebration of the success. The finale shows a lighthearted moment as Krishna Reddy joins in a remix sequence of the film’s item song, signaling a joyous close to Nayaki’s journey.
