Nathu Narayanan is a local rowdy whose presence shapes the lives around him. When Bhaskaran Nair, a homeowner, asks for help evicting a troublesome renter, he’s unable to locate the infamous figure, so he turns to his friend Ramu for assistance. Ramu refuses, skeptical that dragging Narayanan into a rent dispute could drag him toward a life of crime. Bhaskaran Nair returns home, worried, only to have Narayanan show up later that night and agree to handle the eviction. The next day, Narayanan enters the rented house and confronts the nephew of a squatter named Menon, driving the man to flee. With the intruder dispersed, Narayanan clears the house of the squatter’s hold. Bhaskaran Nair pays him a small fee, which Narayanan spends quickly and without much delay.

Around this time, Narayanan also accepts money to marry Omana, a house helper. The plot thickens as Benny, an honest engineer, refuses to sign off on the corrupt contractor Ayyappan Nair’s inflated bills. Ayyappan Nair wants Benny silenced so a replacement can sign the papers, and he turns to Karim Bhai for help. Karim Bhai proposes a brutal plan that would leave Benny disabled, so the bills can’t be disputed. Narayanan carries out a reckless action to trip Benny with a rope stretched across a bridge, causing Benny to fall from his scooter and, in the ensuing struggle, to be pushed into a river. The police rule the death an accident, but Narayanan is left with a heavy weight of guilt.

Feeling remorseful, Narayanan begins helping Asha, Benny’s wife. One evening, while drunk, he visits her workplace and confesses hardship from his own past, recounting how his father was killed in a similar way and how his mother could not care for him afterward. Asha, already wary of Benny’s death, decides to seek a new police inquiry. The rope that was used to trip Benny is discovered by investigators, linking the past incident to the present.

Narayanan realizes he must go into hiding after informing Ayyappan Nair of the new developments. Karim Bhai understands that if Narayanan is found by the police, he could reveal Karim Bhai and Ayyappan Nair’s involvement, so he resolves to eliminate Narayanan. Karim Bhai tracks down Ramu’s house to strike at him, but Narayanan’s presence forewarns him. After a brief confrontation, Narayanan surrenders at the thought of seeing Asha again. Yet, on the way to her home, Narayanan is assaulted by Karim Bhai. He manages to overpower Karim Bhai and ends the attack by choking him with his belt.

In the end, Narayanan returns to Asha’s house and collapses at her feet, begging for forgiveness. The film closes on a somber, reflective note, emphasizing the consequences of a life of crime and the chance for atonement.
