Lindy Lewis, portrayed by Kate Beckinsale, is a young woman who battles intermittent explosive disorder, causing her to experience violent reactions to the slightest provocations. Her unique condition results from an unusually high level of Cortisol in her body, which makes her both stronger and faster than ordinary people. Due to her escalating violent behaviors, her parents ultimately have her institutionalized. After unsuccessful attempts to manage her rage within the confines of the military, Lindy endures a radical and experimental treatment involving a self-administered shock therapy via an electrode-lined vest that she must wear at all times, giving her a chance to live a semblance of a normal life.

Some time later, she is encouraged by her therapist, Dr. Ivan Munchin, played by Stanley Tucci, to embark on a date, believing it could help her establish a healthy relationship. Lindy settles on a date with an accountant named Justin, played by Jai Courtney. However, during their outing, Lindy’s protective instincts kick in when she violently confronts a waitress who is rude to Justin, leading her to retreat back to Dr. Munchin for help. Munchin, realizing Lindy has developed a tolerance to her shock therapy, increases the dosage and urges her to pursue a relationship with Justin.

After navigating through their pasts and bonding, Lindy and Justin’s connection deepens when he gifts her a camera, reflecting her love for photography. However, their blossoming romance takes a dark turn when Lindy later learns from Detective Vicars (played by Bobby Cannavale) that Justin has been murdered. Overcome by grief and rage, she begins to spiral out of control, shocking herself with the vest in a desperate bid to cope.

Determined to uncover the truth behind Justin’s death, Lindy devises a plan to gain access to the police evidence room by feigning knowledge of the murder to the detectives. Her quest leads her to Justin’s house, where she retrieves his phone and discovers connections to a notorious gangster named Barry Kasparzki. Confronting Barry at an underground fight, Lindy must prove her strength and skills by battling his top fighters. Even after her victory, she faces betrayal when Barry reveals that a billionaire recluse named Gareth Fizel (played by David Bradley) ordered the hit on Justin.

On her quest for vengeance, Lindy finds herself in a dangerous cat-and-mouse chase with Detective Nevins, portrayed by Laverne Cox. Lindy evades capture by applying various strategies, showcasing both her physical prowess and cunning intelligence, including a daring escape from an explosive trap set by Fizel’s men.
